ENC is not only the earliest joint venture established by Ericsson Group in China but also Ericsson's largest system supply and support center, with focus on the design, production and sales of mobile communication system equipment and program-controlled telephone switching system equipment. Since Sep., 2002, ENC has been responsible for the supply of and support to Ericsson's mobile communication system equipment and program-controlled telephone switching systems in the Asia-pacific region.
Today ENC maintains a staff of more than 3,300 talented employees, 70% of whom hold college and higher degrees. Its modernized plant located within Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone covers an area of nearly 40,000 square meters and is equipped with advanced facilities. The company has set up strict systems for quality control and environment management, and was issued the ISO9001 Quality Control System certificate in 1996 and the ISO14001 Environment Management System certificate in 1998. At present, its major products include: GSM, GPRS, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE and other system equipment as well as a variety of modules.
The company has maintained a steadily growing performance for nearly 20 years since its establishment. In 2011, it achieved a sales revenue of RMB21.6 billion where RMB8.7 billion came from exports, both hitting its record high, and paid a total tax of RMB1,277 million. Hence the company has consecutively been entitled the Best Foreign-funded Corporation in Nanjing for years.
For the purpose of better facilitating its development, ENC established its own R&D institution in early 2001 and determines its R&D fields and projects soon afterwards, particularly in such aspects as the core processor of WCDMA where it has strong R&D capabilities already. Since 2005, the company's R&D center has become Ericsson's most important R&D institution for TD-SCDMA and has undertaken the R&D task of TD-SCDMA products.
Through years of efforts, ENC has turned itself into Ericsson's global center for purchase, manufacture, distribution and supply chain integration, serving as the first-choice in Ericsson's supplier system for both software and hardware.
